Frank G. Thompson

Died at Peterborough Regional Health Centre in his 92nd year on Tuesday, January 1, 2013. Husband of the late Alice Mary (Leether)(2008). Predeceased by parents Arthur and Margaret (Oldham), and siblings Jack, Ken, George, Margaret (Clark), Art & Helen (Parker). Father of Leitha (d.1963), Gordon (Diane), Nancy Alzo (Michael), Diane Pagett (Randy), Lorraine Shirk and James (Patricia). Survived by grandchildren Adam (Kelly Ellis), Emily Montoya (Oscar), Jacob (Crystal), Joshua, Samuel, Megan Hamilton (Michael), Jessica, Michael, Thomas, Nathan, David, Rachel & Ian; step-grandchildren Jason, Amanda, Jennifer and Monica; great grandchildren Alisen, Faith, Penelope, Griffin and Ainsley; step-great grandchildren Alyssa, Alesha, Amber and Lilia; sister-in-law Peggie. He was Uncle to Jane Gallant (Derrill), John (Beth Ross), Susan Jones, Judy Wyckham (Robert), Patricia Kehler (John) and Wendy Berardi (d. 2004)(Mike). Frank was a lifelong Peterborough area resident, for 40 years at Springville, most recently at Rubidge Retirement Residence. A noted auto mechanic, he eventually became co-owner/manager of Lakeshore Auto Electric, Cobourg (1972-1988). Frank, a WWII Veteran, joined the RCAF in 1942, was a member of Legion Branch 52 and IOOF Royal Lodge, Havelock. Automobiles were a passion. He belonged to the Pine Ridge Antique Car Club and restored a 1934 Olds and a 1953 GMC Pick-up. All Saints Anglican Church was his second home since 1946, where he served as warden from 1983 - 1988. Visitation will be held on Friday, January 4, 2013 from 2-4 & 7-9 p.m. at COMSTOCK FUNERAL HOME & CREMATION CENTRE, 356 Rubidge Street, Peterborough with a Legion Service taking place at 6:45 p.m. The funeral service will be held at ALL SAINTS ANGLICAN CHURCH, 235 Rubidge Street, Peterborough on Saturday, January 5, 2013 at 10:00 a.m. Interment to follow at Little Lake Cemetery.
