Eric Chalmers Munro

Munro, Eric Chalmers – at the Peterborough Regional Health Centre on Thursday February 6, 2025, at the age of 89. Eric was born in Aberdeen, Scotland and came to Canada in 1961. He worked for Falconbridge Nickel Mines analyzing core drilling samples. In 1984 Eric transferred to Lakefield Research (SGS) and relocated his family to Omemee. Eric was known for his quick sense of humor and often commented he was fortunate to spend more years retired than working. Eric retired at 53 to pursue his love of fishing, gardening and spending time with family. Eric’s greatest source of pride was his family. Beloved husband of Joanne Christine Munro (nee Prosser). Loving father of Karen Lawson (Greg), Patty Wingrove (Ron) and Andrew Duncan Munro (Caroline). Proud grandfather of Adam Heffernan (Kristen Gallagher), Victoria Heffernan and Nathan Lawson; Kayla Price (Kevin), Dallas Tucker (Nadya Djojosantoso), Juliana Stephen (Chris), Violet Tucker, Maria Tucker, Alyssa Moore (Justin) and Brett Wingrove (Bailey Scott); Milenka, Elia, Sandrina and Carsten Munro. Great grandfather of Alden, Anna, Ellie, Heidi, Jaxson, Oliver, and Wesley. Predeceased by his parents Andrew Duncan Munro and Grace Munro, his brother Andrew Duncan Munro and his sister Margaret Bell. Special thanks to the Palliative Care Unit at PRHC and Dr. Morelli.
