Surrounded by her family Edna passed away after a courageous battle with cancer, at PRHC, on Sunday, April 3, 2011 at 89 years of age. She was born June 3, 1921 in Gormley, Ontario to Robert and Marguerite Millen. She was predeceased by her parents; siblings Arthur, Agnes and David; and her husbands Milton Heise and Herrick Smith; and daughter Ceinwen. She is survived by her son Donald Heise and his wife Saundra of Marysville, Michigan; daughter Karen and her husband Andrew Christopher of Peterborough and daughter Brenda Heise of Victoria, British Columbia. Grandma was much loved by ten grandchildren and thirteen great-grandchildren. Grandma was known to all as what a “Grandma” should be. The granddaughters have fond memories of the great dress ups and tea parties. Her grandchildren reside in Canada, USA, France and South Africa. She was employed for many years by Uptown Silk Shop in Peterborough as a sales associate. Edna was well known for her knowledge of fabric, good taste and sewing expertise. She lived in Richmond Hill, Bailieboro and Peterborough most of her life. She enjoyed spending winters in Florida where she had many friends. Edna was an accomplished artist working mainly with oils. She is a great loss and will be remembered with love by her family and friends. Memorial donations, in lieu of flowers, to (LAWS) Lakefield Animal Welfare Society would be greatly appreciated by Edna’s family. It is with deep gratitude that we thank the V.O.N., the personal care workers and the wonderful Palliative Care Unit Team at PRHC. Funeral service will take place at 3:00 pm (visitation beginning at 1:30 pm) on Friday, April 8, 2011 at COMSTOCK FUNERAL HOME & CREMATION CENTRE, 356 Rubidge Street.
