Edna passed away peacefully on May 3, 2021, in her 92nd year. The daughter of the late William J. Moore and Grace E. Moore (nee Snyder), Edna married Charles (Bud) Robataille Phillips in Belleville Ontario on March 3, 1951 and was his beloved wife until his passing in 1997.
Edna is survived by her loving sons John Charles Phillips and Mark Robert Phillips, her grandchildren Robin Luis and Robert Phillips and her step-grandchildren, Russell Compton and Marcus Compton.
Throughout her life, Edna took an active interest in her community.
Making all her boy’s clothes during their early school years, Edna developed an interest in weaving that became her passion for over two decades. She completed the Ontario Handweavers and Spinners Masters Level Program and taught weaving classes in both at a community studio and in her home.
Edna worked for many years as a volunteer at the Art Gallery of Peterborough and was recognized in 1989 with a Volunteer Service Award from the Ontario Ministry of Culture and Communication.
Interests next turned to public speaking. As the oldest, esteemed member of Peterborough Toastmasters, Edna polished her skills and helped others develop theirs.
Memorable summer days on Eels Lake included cottage friends, family, and the occasional shot of rye with a drop of water. Winters were filled with Bridge, Ball Room Dancing and Book Clubs. Edna’s keen sense of humour, sharp wit and kind heart will surely be missed.
The family would like to sincerely thank that staff at Extendicare Peterborough for their exceptional care, kindness, and support.
