Peacefully surrounded by the love of her family in the Peterborough Regional Health Centre Palliative Care Unit on Tuesday, December 22nd, 2015 in her 88th year, under the compassionate care of Dr. Patrick Kilmartin. Daughter of the late Ernie and Edith Mowbray. Doris, wife of nearly 60 years to her late and loving husband, Tom Mather, whom she met while working at Canadian General Electric. Loving and devoted mother of Randall (Judy) and Greg (Diane). Cherished Grandmother of Kirk, Geoffrey, Nicholas and Elizabeth. Lovingly remembered by her siblings Marion Preston, Roy Mowbray, Irish Mowbray, Ruth Cooper, Pat Mowbray, Nellie Creasy and Joyce tolley. Predeceased by siblings, Margaret Gardner, Gladys Thompson and Lois Guernsey. Remembered by her brothers and sisters-in-law, many nieces and nephews. Doris was an independent and disciplined soul with a generous spirit who loved to spend time at the cottage on Rice Lake, to garden, to go for walks, was a former GE and Trent University employee, a curling and bowling enthusiast and a long-time member of Mark Street United Church.
VISITATION will be held at KAYE FUNERAL HOME ‘MEMORIAL CHAPEL’, 539 George Street North, Peterborough, ON K9H 3S1 on Tuesday, December 29th from 11:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m., with service and reception immediately following. If desired, donations to the Cancer Society, Peterborough Regional Health Centre (PRHC) or a charity of your choice would be deeply appreciated by the family.
