Peacefully at PRHC on Sunday, August 3, 2014, of 177 Summit Dr., Windward Sands, Ennismore, surrounded by his loving family. Born July 15, 1934, he was in his 80th year. Beloved husband of Lorraine Anne Pinch (nee Bacon, formerly Fitzpatrick) of Ennismore and Sarasota, Florida. Dear father of Greg Pinch, of Toronto; and dear step-father of Joan Fitzpatrick, of Peterborough; Steve Fitzpatrick, of Toronto; Mary Helen Matheson, of Toronto. Loving grandfather of Chloe and Kelly Pinch, of Toronto; Megan Graham, of Calgary; Matthew Rathbun, of Seoul, Korea; Christina and John Matheson, of Toronto. Proud great-grandfather of Faith, Hope and Travis Graham, of Calgary. Sadly missed by sister Sally Cole, of Oshawa; and Elsie Jean Nelson, of Whiting, New Jersey; and sister-in-law Nancy Messerschmidt (Bacon), of Bradenton, Florida; Auntie Elsie Gibson (Pinch), of Wickcliffe, Ohio; Aunt Anne Pinch of Crossville, Tennessee; best friends Marianne and Roy Parker of Ennismore; and dear neighbours, Karen and Dick Brown, and Joanne and Don Richie, of Windward Sands, Ennismore.
Predeceased by brother Richard Pinch, parents Millie Pinch (Noch), Edward Cooper Pinch, and Jean Pinch (Pryce). He will be very missed by many cousins, nieces and nephews. David was born and educated in Cleveland, Ohio. He went to California during his early adult years, and later immigrated to Ontario. He was a kind, gentle person, who was active and fun loving, with a strong faith. He work was in tool making, as a machinist. He spent from age 6 weeks on at his family cottage at little Hawk Lake near Minden, Ontario. He was a great downhill and cross country skier, snowmobiler, racquetball player, cyclist, swimmer, snorkeler and fisherman. He made 2 motorcycle trips from the east coast to west coast, and loved to take local motorcycle trips with friends. David was a member of Bridgenorth United Church. He enjoyed volunteering with the children at the summer church vacation camp.
He will be missed by many friends and neighbours in both the Ennismore-Peterborough area and the Sarasota, Florida, where he spent 25 winters enjoying Sarasota’s sunshine. Family and friends are invited to attend a Service to Celebrate David’s Life, on Wednesday, August 27, 2014 at 2 p.m. at Bridgenorth United Church, 832 Charles Street. Officiated by Rev. Dr. Anne Gowans-Blinn. A reception will follow the service in the church hall. If you wish, donations to the local Heart and Stroke Foundation or a charity of your choice would be appreciated.
