Peacefully in his sleep, Charles passed quietly on the morning of March 13th at the Highview Residence in London, at the age of 89. Beloved Father to C.J. David, Father-in-law to Janet Loughheed and Grandfather to Arthur and Simone. Charles was a loving husband to Donalda Donald, for the 47 years of their marriage until her passing. He was fortunate to share his later years in loving marriages with Nancy Mae Holbrook, Mabel Henderson and Jean Heath. Chuck was predeceased by his only sibling, his younger brother Frank. Charles was a dedicated math teacher, and acted as treasurer for many local organizations. A talented singer; he was an active member of the St Andrew’s United Church choir, the Golden Tones choir and other local choirs. He volunteered for many years at Peterborough Regional Health Centre as a porter, and enjoyed giving back to both the community and the hospital that had been so good to Donalda through her health challenges. He was active member of the William James Dunlop Masonic Lodge for many years, and enjoyed being a member of the Order of the Eastern Star.
The family will receive friends at Comstock-Kaye Life Celebration Centre, 356 Rubidge Street, on Saturday, March 23, 2019 from 3:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m. A Memorial Service will be held on Sunday, March 24th at 3:00 p.m. at Emmanuel United Church, 534 George Street North, Peterborough, with a Masonic Service at 2:00 p.m. and an Order of the Eastern Star Service at 2:15 p.m. In lieu of flowers, donations to the Alzheimer Society, or Canadian Cancer Society in Chuck’s name would be appreciated by the family. Chuck’s family would like to thank the amazing staff at Highview Residence for the extraordinary care they have given Chuck in his last months.
