Marietta Van Leuven, 85, of Perrysburg, Ohio and Singer Island, Florida died on Friday, May 1, 2015 at Hospice of Northwest Ohio, Toledo. She was born on January 5, 1930 in Chicago, Illinois to Francis and Mary Margaret (Kabot) Lettiere. She is preceded in death by her parents, sister (Jean Scott) and loving husband of 62 years, Edward James Van Leuven.
Marietta was an accomplished business woman and managed and owned apartment complexes with her husband until her retirement in her 70’s. In her retirement she served on her condominium board as the treasurer. She loved singing and was a member of the Toledo choral society and St. Joan of Arc. choir. She sang the Messiah for many years under the direction of Sam Szor.
Marietta was a member of the Belmont Country Club, St. Rose Catholic Church in Perrysburg and St. Paul of the Cross Parish in North Palm Beach, Florida. She enjoyed spending winters in Florida with her husband and loved visits from family and friends. Marietta was an avid reader and looked forward to solving the daily NY Times crossword puzzle. She loved to play games with her grandchildren and attend plays, movies and shopping with her daughters.
Marietta is survived by her loving children, Mary (Gregory) Oatis, Edward (Tina) Van Leuven and Debbie (Patrick) Riley; grandchildren, Priscilla, Jacob, J.P., Carolyn, Dylan and Kaden. A memorial mass will be held on Saturday, May 16, 2015 at 11:00 A.M. in the St. Rose Catholic Church, 215 E. Front St., Perrysburg, Ohio. Interment will follow at St. Rose Catholic Cemetery.
