She grew up on the family farm and graduated from Webster High School in 1934. Marie married George Haas of Perrysburg, Ohio in 1942; they had four children. Although heartbroken by the loss of her husband and sons before her, Marie lived a long and full life. She was beloved for her courage and compassion not only by her family but by everyone who met her. Many of her nieces and nephews knew her as “Aunt Bob”. Marie was a sports fan and a regular at Rossford High School basketball and football games and an avid Ohio State Buckeyes fan. She was present with her son Mike and daughters and their families at the 2002 National Championship game. She visited her daughters and their families in Oregon frequently; often with her favorite niece Anita Kopp. Marie was known for her green thumb, her love of birds, flowers and house plants and delighted in gifting visitors to her home with small house plants she had cultivated.
Marie is survived by her daughters Diane Baker (Jim) and Connie Haas (David Leonhardt), her daughter-in-law Mary Jo Haas, five grandchildren, Andrea Cluckey (Keith), Allison Haas, James Baker, Joseph and Timothy Leonhardt, and two great-grandchildren, Yasmina and Rania.
