Mr. Davis came to know Jesus Christ at an early age and declared his love for the Lord until his passing.
He attended Jefferson High School in Los Angeles, California. From there, he went on to earn several certificates, including a Master Carpenter certification, which he practiced for over 40 years.
Herman was the epitome of a selfless man of valor who embodied integrity and hard work. He clothed, housed and fed anyone in need. He was a leader, a provider, and a pillar of his community.
From an early age, Herman grew to love basketball until his later years, so much so that he was coined the nickname “The Grip” by friends, family and loved ones willing to accept the challenge. In his free time, he loved to eat, his favorites included Lemon meringue pie and orange sherbet ice cream. He also enjoyed working on cars, and using his carpentry skills, he found solace building anything and everything he could.
He met and married the love of his life, Mary Lee Pickens, enjoying life with one another for over 40 years. Together, they raised their children on the foundation to love, obey and follow the Lord. They instilled the importance of keeping God first and sticking together above all.
