He was born and raised in Sapulpa, Oklahoma, and attended grades 1 through 11. Gary graduated grade 12 in Ventura, California, after which he joined the United States Army.
Gary was preceded in death by his father, Calwell Grant; and mother, Margaret Dixon. He leaves to cherish his life and memory his two sisters, Lois Phillips and Barbara Walker; aunt, Betty Atterberry; and a host of nieces, nephews, and cousins.
A graveside service for Gary will be held Thursday, May 4, 2023 from 1:30 PM to 2:00 PM at Riverside National Cemetery, 22495 Van Buren Boulevard, Riverside, California 92518.
