William Leonard Cotton, 69, of Spring Bay passed away at 7:30 p.m. Thursday, June 1, 2017 at OSF St. Francis Medical Center. He was born on March 8, 1948 in Peoria, the son of William and Agnes Armour Cotton. He married Dianne Blumenshine on May 16, 1969.
William is survived by his wife of 48 years; one son, Billy (Patty) Cotton of Pueblo, CO; one daughter, Tracey (Michael) Koenig of Metamora; eight grandchildren: Jacob Cotton, Bryan Crandell, Joshua (Crystal) Gordon, Kevin (Renee) Gordon, Nicholas Gordon, Josie Koening, Rickey Gleason and Ronald Gleason; three great-grandchildren; two brothers, Willis (Renee) Cotton of Deer Creek and Rusty (Barb) Cotton of Metamora; one sister, Terri (Mark) Schrock of Congerville; and step-mother, Amy Cotton. He was preceded in death by his father and one daughter, Marcey Crandell.
William worked as a Millwright at Caterpillar, Inc. until his retirement on March 1, 2004. In 2006, he started a 10-year career as an OSHA Authorized General Industry Trainer. He was an Army veteran of the Vietnam Conflict. William was a member of Lancaster Masonic Lodge #0106, Scottish Rite and American Legion Post #1115.
Cremation rites have been accorded. A memorial service will be Thursday, June 8, 2017, at 6:00 p.m. at Davison-Fulton Woodland Chapel in Peoria. Pastor Michael Barclay will officiate. Visitation will be two hours prior to services.
