Warren was born to Henry and Matilda (Werkau) Nelson on September 30th 1921 in Clifton, IL.
After high school Warren attended the University of Illinois and received his bachelor’s degree in agriculture. After he graduated from college he entered into the U.S. Army in the fall of 1941, he served in WWII and was honorably discharged after the war.
He went on to get his master’s degree at the University of Illinois. He decided to be a banker by profession and was the President of Farm Department at Commercial Nation Bank which in now PNC. Warren retired in 1987.
Warren was a member of the Farm Bureau as well as an Alumni at the University of Illinois and attended First United Methodist Church on University Street in Peoria.
Warren is survived by his second wife Faye Nelson; one son Scott (Becky) Nelson of Des Moines Iowa; three grandsons Chris (Liz) Nelson, Jerry (Nicole) Nelson, Curtis (Amber) Nelson; one granddaughter Candice (Justin) Lane. He is also survived by five great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents, his first wife Fern Nelson, one brother and one sister.
A memorial service will be held at The Lutheran Hillside Village Chapel on Saturday September 2nd starting at 1:00 p.m. officiated by Pastor Jeff Harter.
A Graveside service will be held at Swan Lake Memorial Gardens in Peoria on Friday September 8th starting at 9:00 a.m.
In lieu of flowers donations can be made to Lutheran Hillside benevolent Foundation and of The Waters of Life Chapel at Lutheran Hillside Village.
