Walter was born March 14, 1947 in Peoria, the son of Walter C and Katherine Larkin Brooks Sr. He married Brenda Dalton July 2, 1965.
He is survived by his wife of forty-nine years: two daughters, Shelia Diemer of Wisconsin, and Carla (Marvin) Cook of Pontiac; two sons, Dennis Brooks Sr. of Glasford, and Walter (Rachel) Brooks III of Lafayette, IN; seven grandchildren and one great-grandson; four siblings, David (Pat) Brooks of Peoria, Johanna (Bob) Bankus of Phillipsburg, Danny (Sandy) Brooks of Glasford, and Peggy Brooks of Galesburg.
Walter was preceded in death by his parents, and one brother.
He was currently employed with D. Brooks Excavating as a Local 649 operator and was prior a bricklayer and cement finisher with Local 6. Walter also owned and operated OutPost Sporting Goods for years. He was a gun repairman for Presley’s, and a water fowl guide in North Dakota and Nebraska. He was a lifetime member of the National Rifle Association and member of Bass masters. He lived for the outdoors. Hunting and fishing was a passion.
A memorial service will be held at 4:00p.m., Sunday, December 7, 2014 at Davison-Fulton Woodland Chapel. Visitation will be from 2:00-4:00 p.m. also at the chapel. Pastor Rick Rogy will officiate.
Cremation rites will be accorded.
