Stan was born Aug. 19, 1934, in Sterling, Ill., to Stanley L. and Helen (Henderson) Adams, along with his surviving twin sister, Ann (Leland) Leak of New Mexico. Stan married Joyce Romine in 1958 in Canton, Ill. He is survived by her and their two children, Lora (Andrew) McCormick and Dane (Jennifer) Adams, both of Fayetteville, Ga.; seven grandchildren, George, Katie, Michael and Erin McCormick and Uly, Naomi and Kelly Adams; and Betty Wildman, with whom he shared his life for the past 14 years.After serving in the U.S. Army, Stan graduated from Bradley University and went on to receive a Masters of Fine Arts degree from Illinois State University. He was an accomplished commercial artist and art instructor at Illinois Central College, retiring in 2000 after 32 years of teaching, and was well known in the Peoria area for his work in watercolor. He led workshops in Colorado and New Mexico and his art was displayed in galleries around the area and throughout the country.Cremation rites have been accorded and a celebration of Stan's life will be held on Saturday, March 12, 2016, at 1 p.m. at the Union Church in Brimfield, Ill. Visitation will be one hour prior to the services. Davison-Fulton Woolsey-Wilton Funeral Home in Peoria is in charge of arrangements.
