He attended the University of Notre Dame and Bradley University, where he was a member of Alpha Pi. He then entered the US Navy during WWII, serving in the South Pacific.
Later, Spalding was the president of Slevin Container Corp. in Peoria for many years. He also operated a small printing business and a plastics company. After “retirement” he started a photography business, specializing in taking pictures of children. His endeavors throughout life are too numerous to mention here.
Spalding was a true renaissance man; witnessed by all who knew him. His true legacy was a purity of heart that embodied the highest ideals of being a Christian man, and this is the inspiration he leaves his family and friends.
There will be a memorial Service at a later date.
