Shawn Kiley Schleich, 31, of Edwardsville, Illinois (formerly of Peoria, Illinois), peacefully passed away at 8am on Saturday, November 5th, at Central DuPage Hospital in Winfield, Illinois. He was surrounded by his loving parents, and his two caring sisters.
Shawn was born on November 29, 1979, in Peoria, Illinois, to Michael and Judith (Lotts) Schleich. Surviving are his parents, Michael and Judith, both of Peoria, two sisters: Megan (Scott) Archdale of East Peoria, and Bridget (Nik Wagner) Schleich of Sycamore, Illinois. Also surviving are Shawn’s loving niece and nephew, Shelby and Clayton Archdale, both of East Peoria.
He was preceded in death, and met at the gates, by Grandma Mary and Grandpa Edwin Schleich, Lois (Namie) and Paul Heimburger, Granddad Don Lotts, Aunt Cathy Schaub (Schleich), and Uncle James “Dennis” Schleich, and a very close friend, Michael Johnson.
Shawn attended and graduated from Richwoods High School and Southern Illinois University at Edwardsville with a degree in Political Science and a minor in English. Shawn was currently enrolled in the Masters of Public Administration program at Southern Illinois University at Edwardsville.
Shawn was previously the co-owner of Erato, a wine/tapas bar in Edwardsville, Illinois, and had left his position as co-owner/operator/manager to pursue other interests. He was currently working as an arborist in the Edwardsville/St. Louis area.
Shawn loved to try new and exciting experiences. He realized he had a love for skydiving and was working on qualifying for his certification as a Master Jumper, and went many times with friends. Shawn was skilled and knowledgeable in every area he pursued. He attained a certificate in wine tasting as a Wine Master Level 1, and was working on attaining his Level 2 certificate.
Shawn was fun-loving, smart, and sincere. His mother and father taught him to be strong, independent, and loving. With two little sisters, Shawn taught himself how to be patient, quick-witted, and always there when his sisters needed him the most. He was a best friend to his sisters, and the greatest son any parent could ask for.
Shawn’s family wishes to thank his extensive network of friends in Edwardsville and the Peoria area, for filling his life full of laughter and excitement, as we know he truly appreciated everyone. A special thank you to Amanda Clifford, and her son Hayden, for giving Shawn a sense of love that only they could provide him, and being there for Shawn during troubling times. You all will never be forgotten.
