Ron was born February 18th, 1943 in Galesburg ,Il to Philip C. and Marilee J.(Ayers) Theobald. He married his soulmate , Regina Hartley on August 24th,2015.
Surviving are his mother, Marilee Theobald of Galesburg ; his wife, Regina Theobald of Peoria; one son, Douglas(Carrie) Theobald of Peoria; five daughters, Jennifer(Rory)Chance of Bartonville; Jamie(Mike) Jokhy of North Carolina; Kimberlee Heinz of Missouri; Ashlee(Jeff) Sheely of Oklahoma and Emily Hansard of Edwardsville; three brothers, Phil(Sandy)Theobald of Peoria; Gary(Jean)Theobald of Galesburg; Ed(Cathy) Theobald of Galesburg; two sisters, Patricia(Jim) Isaacson of Galesburg and Jane(Dan Dalton)Young of Galesburg, twelve grandchildren, one great granddaughter and several nieces and nephews.
Ron graduated from Galesburg High School in 1961. He then enlisted in the United States Army where he was a combat veteran in Vietnam with the 82nd Airborne,173rd Brigade from 1962-1965. He worked at International Harvester and then joined the Peoria Police Department in 1973. He earned a degree from Illinois Central College, went to Northwestern Staff and Command and the FBI Academy in Virginia. He worked in the Field training office ,Criminal and Special Investigations and Patrol. He was also a member of the Peoria Tactical Team. He retired in 2001 with a rank of Lieutenant.
Ron served on the board at PAWS, he served one term as a Chillicothe Alderman and he was a member of the Peoria Police Benevolent Association and a long time member of the NRA.
Ron was an avid outdoorsman and an excellent marksman with both firearm and bow, he loved to hunt, fish ,camp and he took annual kayak/canoe trips. He was always accompanied by his dog.
A celebration of life service will be Monday, February 8, 2016 at 6:00 PM at the Davison Fulton Woodland Chapel. The Rev. Jack Thompson will officiate. Visitation will be from 4:00PM until 6:00 PM Monday at the funeral chapel. Cremation rites will be accorded following the celebration. Memorials may be made to the Project Healing Waters, P.O.
