He was born April 13, 1931 in Peoria to Albert and Vira (Rowe) Gray. He married Doris Moeri on July 12, 1953 in Peoria. She survives along with one daughter, Susan (Willy) Bonnell of Metamora, one son, Joe (Deanna) Gray of Pekin. One sister, Sharon (William) Moyers of Canton, three brothers, Ira “Mick”(Mary Lou) Gray of Bountiful, Utah, Ernie (Jayne) Gray of Mapleton, Gary (Karen) Willms of Peoria Heights, six grandchildren: Tammy (Tracy) Barrett, Audrey (Rob) Larson, Sam Bonnell, Mike Bonnell, Christie Gray, Matthew Gray, and five great-grandchildren: Will, Wes, Gracie, Hannah, and Ellie.
He was preceded in death by his parents and two nephews.
Ron was a United States Marine veteran serving in the Korean War.
He was a Truck Driver and a Diesel Mechanic for many years at Melvin Trucking, Jones Motor, Triple EEE and retired from Service Transportation in 1980.
He was a member, and very active, of the Mount Olive Missionary Church in Peoria. While there he served on several boards, ushered and was Sunday School Superintendent for over fifteen years. In later years he worshipped at Groveland missionary Church. He enjoyed his time with his grandchildren.
Ron suffered from Parkinson’s Disease for over fifteen years.
Funeral services will be Wednesday Nov. 26, 2014 at 10 a.m. at Davison-Fulton Woodland Chapel in Peoria. Rev. Curtis Ebert will officiate. Visitation will be Tuesday, Nov. 25, 2014, from 5 to 7 p.m. also at the funeral home.
Burial will be in Parkview Cemetery in Peoria.
Memorials may be made to Mount Olive Missionary Church or Groveland Missionary Church.
