He was born Feb. 18, 1946 in Peoria to Harold “Babe” and Ruth (Johnson) Lane. He married Linda Gulick on June 8, 1968 in Peoria. She survives along with two daughters: Tracy Lane of Peoria, Tami Lane of Los Angeles, CA, and one sister, Valerie (Roger) Bergia of Peoria.
Roger began his teaching and coaching career at Bergan High School in 1968. He went on to teach and become the head baseball and golf coach at Woodruff High School until his retirement in 2002. He also officiated boys and girls basketball for many years and was a member of the Peoria Officials Association and was inducted into its Hall of Fame. He enjoyed officiating with his close friend Al Huber.
Roger loved his fishing trips to Minnesota, Wisconsin, and Lake Catatogo.
Cremation rites have been accorded. There will be a celebration of Roger’s life on Wednesday, Dec. 5, 2018 at 3 p.m. at the Davison-Fulton Woolsey-Wilton Funeral Home in Peoria. Visitation will be one hour prior to the services.
