Billy and Tina were here and Billy moved the post in the front yard closer to the road. He put glow on the dark numbers on the post too. He used the same nails that were in it already. He said "There it's put up with grandpa's nails." Looks good and makes me feel safer.

Fifty three years ago we said I DO. 
Lots of ups and downs but that's what made us who we were. Believing no one was better than anyone else and that a handshake or your word  and honesty was how we lived  and all we expected from anyone else.
On our 10th annivesery we went to Springfield for the weekend. I waited all the way across the room because it was so busy and difficult to get up to the counter.  When your turn came to be waited on, you turned around and yelled out "Who's name did you register us under, yours or mine?" Everyone laughed while my face turned beet red.

I can't beleive how much I love and miss you.

Today is Father's Day and I was rembering when I bought you a  Father's Day gift . You ask why I bought you something and I said Because you are the father of our girls. We laughed about it but bought for ane another on those two days also.

Used the weed eater for the first time. Learned another lesson. You don't get to close to the peony bushes because you'll cut them down. I'm still learning. Wish with all my heart that you where still here. Even with all the help I get it's still so very hard without you.

I mowed the back and side yard for the very first time. I know you would laugh at my good white shoes. Now they are green and white. Guess that's my pay back for polishing your tennis shoes for you when you were starting therapy at the hospital. Your tennis shoes looked like regular shoes to me. 
You polished your shoes every day so I thought I'd be nice to you and polish your shoes before bringing them to you. 
It was funny. Bet you are the only one in heaven with polished tennis shoes.

Today I delived the blankets to some of the special people at the hospital that took care of you. Also the Daisy and Smile Awards. 
I also made a small photo album of you through the years with a note telling the story about each picture for Darr. He laughed because you had a dress on in your baby picture and said he would always keep the album.  Darr also liked his blanket a lot just like you said he would. He smiled real big when I told him you picked out his material for his blanket. He said he will keep in touch and let us know how he is doing.
Hard to explain but now that all those things are done my arms hurt and feel empty.

Well mom is gonna finish your book.Iam sure like everything else she does it will be amazing ! I cannot believe it has been almost a year!I had to check bait in the other day and could almost hear you laugh because of the way i like worms! How can it be almost a year. Seems like it was just yesterday we were laughing about something or another and picking on each other. You were always so patient and never without a smile. We beleived that a deal was a deal and your word was the most importatnt thing you could have except for your family. Treating everyone no matter what age, sex or color with respect. 
You left us with so much to pass on to others.

Pain of you not being here will never go away but neither will the love, memories or respect we shared.

 So hard to believe you have been gone almost a year. Some days I don't know how to handle this and other days I laugh and smile at the memories.

 I wish there were words to tell how much you will always mean to me. I am who I am because of you and mom and the example the two of you set. 

 You will always have a very special place in my heart and there will always be a hole there without you. I am so proud to be your daughter. Our grandkids will hear so many stories about their Paw Paw and know you through the stories,memories and lots of pictures.

Remember when I got upset because Terry and Pat were making new friends on the internet? 
I met Kathy on the internet when I ordered stickers for scrapbooking.  Kathy and I have become very good friends. She is full of concern for others. 
You would pick on her when she called and always laughed and said Don't anyone bother those two for at least an hour.
Kathy, Steve, Janet and Tom gave me a wonderfull gift. Your guestbook was extended for a year as a gift for me. It has helped me so much.
One day I will finish what we were going to do, I will go to Canada to visit Kathy and Steve.

Janet and Tom have been so thoughtfull and encouraging me to work with my pictures. Janet and Tom have  negative things going on in their life but still encourage me and make me feel better. They are special people.

When Sharon would stay with us you told her she had to take the garbage out. We lived in an upstairs apartment and before I could put anything in the garbage can  she would  take it to the garbage can downstairs and out side.

I still laugh when I think of the time you and Ralph milked the cows and the hogs drank milk out of the bucket and the rest of the family drank the milk that night.
Once we were married you told your Mom and she thought it was funny.

Mother's Day was another hard day. I went to Terry & Pat's like we do every year. Bobby's family & Danielle's family were there. Kelly made blackberry cobbler because it is my favorite. 
Terry had something behind her back and said these aren't perfect but I think Dad sent them. She had lilacs from her lilac bushes. First time in a few years I didn't get  my traditional lilacs on Mother's Day because they were finished blooming.I beleive Terry was right. Thanks for the lilacs.

Danielle always went with you to get donuts in the morning. Just the two of you. One time when you got back you told us you were going the wrong way on a one way street and she didn't tell you. Danielle said she didn't need to because no cars were coming..

When the grandkids reached 13 you took them to the farm and let them drive the truck but they couldn't tell me.  Just before Larry reached 13 he was very excited because it would very soon be his turn to drive. He slipped up and told me.
So he had to wait a few extra days and HAD to promise not to tell me and he didn't.

When Anthony was about 9 he came in the house upset because a baby bird fell out of the nest and he didn't know what to do. So you got a rag and out the door you both went.
You picked the bird up with the rag and gave it to Anthony still in the rag. Next you lifted Anthony up and he gently put the baby back in the nest. You and Anthony were heros to that baby bird.

Today was the Race For The Cure. Some days are lots harder than others and today was one of those days. We walked a lot of races and if you didn't walk with me you were at the finish line waiting. I knew it would be hard this year but not how hard. Last night Bobby called me and told me he would be at the finish line and he was. Can't explain how good it made me feel seeing him there.

While driving for work today I saw a bunch of cows laying down. Out of no where I started laughing as I remembered when I was little you told me that cows never lay down. Believing you I asked what about when they sleep and you said they stand up and sleep. You then asked if I ever say a cow laying down. Well today I saw lots of cows laying down. 
I miss you and your crazy little tricks and those jokes that were only funny becuase you were laughing at yourself so much.

Bobby and Kelly cut the grass every week and help me a lot. Sometimes I don't even know I need something but they do and they are here.

We would always laugh when we remembered us going to Mel's and there was a young tree that was rotten. You pushed on it and it fell over, you flexed your muscles and Bobby's eyes got big.  Next time we went there some kids came and wanted to see Superman. Bobby had told his friends you were Superman and had pushed the tree over.

Dustin and Tara have a new baby horse. She looks like a paint. You would love her.She runs so fast to be new baby.

Remember when we would take the grandkids for the weekend? Sometimes all 6 at a time. We also took them one at a time so they could have their own special weekend. On one weekend Dustin said he was going to have his own band. He would play guaitar and be lead singer. Dustin even had his special weekend with us after he got out of the Navy.

Well dad I am moving up at work! Now getting ready to get certified for assistant manager. I have been getting up at 3-3:30 am 6 days a week, dont know how you loved this shift.Job is very demanding of my time, so i am missing holidays with family!Makes me sad!Not a day goes by that i don't miss you!I love you a 0

I picked up my packet for Race For The Cure. We have walked in it for about 20 years. Last few years you couldn't walk but you were at the finish line. I'm walking this year and know it will be VERY hard when I get to the finish line and you aren't there.

I picked up my packed  and my race number is 116. Day or so later I took everything out of the sack and two numbers were stuck together. Behind 116 was 117 (1,1,7 = 9). I'll put numbers back to back so I will have my 6 & 9 with me.

Remembering when Shauna was little and I put her medicine in her applsauce (she called it applesoppy). Billy was sitting at the table with her and I gave both of them applesauce. Shauna thought I left the kitchen and had Billy turn his head. When he did she switched the bowls and tried to give him the one with the medicine. She didn't like it because I caught her.

You would be so proud of Tina. She is getting promotions fairly often. She has her own apartment and works lots of strange hours. Tina brings me homemade vegetable soup that is very good. I freeze some and have it at another time. Lots better than tv dinners.

Terry & Pat take me on trips and Pat doesn't even make jokes about me being a problem. Maybe that's because I keep telling him he is my favorite while he is driving. Once Terry gets behind the wheel she's my favorite. I think Pat does most of the driving just so he can be the favorite.

Grant is funny and busy all the time. He twist his lips around when he says certain words. Hard to not laugh at him so we cover our mouth or look away. He likes to play Pat's drum and sing so maybe he is getting ready for his life as a music star.

Daniell is so right about Gavin being like you. He is always happy and smiling. Gavin will know about you because Daniell will tell him about you. Even the things like you helping her build her own treehouse. So much of you to still share.

Grandpa still thinking of you and missing you, this easter was very strange. I thought of you alot at rexs parents as i chased the kids in the power wheels. Grant is getting so big and so smart now. i dont think he ever stops talking! And gavin is huge, he is 5 months old now, i wish you could have gotten to hold him. I think you left a part of you with him though, he is the happiest baby i have ever seen. He is always happy, unless he is hungry. The true love of life you always had, the smile you always had, you left that with all of us. Love you

Just looking at picture of you and Grant when we were setting up for Danielle's wedding. You took the cart we had been using and put Grant on it and pushed him all over the recepitoin room. We all laughed but I think you had as much fun as Grant. JILUD

Remember everytime one of the little ones came here they had to go next door and feed the chickens?  Dalton likes to feed the chickens  and he eats the bread as he goes. He says ready, set, go and throws the bread in the chickens pen. While they are running and flapping their wings Dalton laughs very hard. Soon as they settle down he does it again.

Colton and Tana are growing like weeds. I laugh when I remember when we played with the tiny flashlight with a red light the size of a small dot. They couldn't see it hidden in my hand.  I would move it around the room and they would chase it. You would say I think it's going to be over on the other wall and I would shine it there. Just as they got to it I would move it somewhere else while you told where it might be the next time and the chase was on again. We all laughed so hard and had so much fun. I am thankfull for all the great memories.

Lane wanted to know where you were and would you come with us when we came the next time. Terry said Remember Paw Paw is in heaven but he still sees us like Santa can. Lane said Then will he bring us presents too.
Sometimes it is very hard to explain but Colton started talking about their cat they buried and Lane was ok.

At last I got to meet Garrett Earl .
He is so special. You said he was on the way but no one else knew, not even Dustin and Tara. 
During the 4 days we were there I held him a lot. On 4 or 5 different times when I was holding him and no one was around he would turn one corner of his mouth up, move his nose up and down or raise his eyebrows. Same things you done to me when you were so sick. Made me smile and brought a  tear or two.

We went to Ohio to meet Garret Earl and see the kids, took Mom with us. I thought of and missed you so much on the trip. You would love the farm, the horses, playing with the kids. We went to a Buffalo Ranch and again I thought of how much you would of enjoyed that too. Pat and Dustin were working on the barn getting ready for a new colt, again I though Dad would be right out there helping. 
 Then there was Easter and once again it hit really hard that you aren't here with us anymore. Your love and believe in us remains though and that is how I get thru the really hard days. I miss you so much and there are so many things I want to tell you and share with you. I love you and miss you so much. Thank you for all the memories you left me with, it helps me get through those really bad days.

Easter week was so VERY hard. No big family gathering or our own version of the Easter Egg game,but mostly you not being here. Bobby,Kelly & Dalton kept me busy doing Easter egg hunts and dinner with them. 

Sometimes I truly think I can't go on one more minute then I remember all we had together and how much you beleived in me  and that makes each step I take a little easier. 
Even been taking pictures of Hawks all by myself. Lot harder without you driving and pointing them out in time.

Recently I spent time with Jacob and Amber. She is such a good Mom. Jacob is very smart and loves to talk. lol

Amber bought you and I afgans for Christmas one year. Yours had a tractor on it. I ask Jake if he would like to have it. When I gave it to him he smiled real big and said "I really like it a lot grandma" and wrapped himself up in it. Felt good to share something special with him.

On the 24th (2+4=6) I picked Kyle up for the night. We went to Chuck E Cheese where they stamp your had with a  number that is invisable. When you leave they use a special light to make sure your numbers match. Our number was 42 (4+2=6).
Kyle was only going to stay one night but he ended staying 3 nights and 4 days. I took him home on the 27th (2+7=9) During the time he was here he ask where your clothes were. I told him some in closet, drawer, storage bags and storage container in the attic. He wanted to see your clothes so we looked at things down stairs and upstairs.
Kyle told me we could go to the attic and clean or find something. So off we went to the attic. First thing he saw was a storage container with some of your clothes and we went through that. I gave him and Braden one of your work shirts they can wear now. He sure was excited. 
We made a Smile Box and he picked out his and it said Thank You on it and a space for words of your own. I told him I couldn't get words Thank You off of it. Kyle said "That's OK put Thank You For Being My Friend." We started picking photos out and he only wanted pictures of him and you. (He did find a picture of all 3 of us together and he put that in too). Three kids race cars moved across the bottom of the page all the time. Guess what the numbers were they were 1,4 and 10 = 15(5+1 + 6).
Like always when I am facing a new thing or something for the first time without you a 6, 9 or both show up.
Some people think I shouldn't look at things that way but it makes me feel like you are helping me and I feel better and that's what matters.
Thank you and God for the numbers and 53 years of ups , downs, unconditional love and special memories. Some people aren't that blessed.

Another first, I got Braden and Kyle for a few days. First Braden for 2 days. Took him to the Mall and he rode rides, esculator and elevator for first time.
You and I took some of the great grandkids to store to make their own Teddy Bear so I took Braden. I took lots of pictures. When we got home Braden said "Where's Paw Paw? Oh he's at work " and went on. Later he wanted to walk through the garage and shed and all over the yard and we done that a few times. After we came in the house he looked in every room and upstairs 2 or 3 times. I went with him every step of the way and he never said anything. Later we made a "Smile Box" and he picked it out and pictures of you and him to go in it. You Have left a lot of love and good memories behind.

Hi Dad,  We went fishing last weekend.  We didn't catch anything but that's ok.  I started some of my plants, then had a Shamrock shake.  None were the same without you.  What I miss the most is our talks.  You always knew what to say and when to say it.  I Love and Miss you so much.

Terry, Pat, Bobby, Kelly and Tina are still looking out for me like they promised. Kelly and Bobby are going to teach me how to use the mower but not the riding mower. Guess that is their job. (Kyle said he would teach me how to work the riding mower.You showed him how so he can show me how). Dalton is all over the place, I can picture what fun you two would have had. He is going to know all about you as he gets older so you'll always be part of his life. We grew from the two of us to a family of over 25. We done good.JILUD

I took Kyle and Braden to see the eagles like we use to do. Braden wanted to come home and get you first. I told him we can only see you if we close our eyes and we done that. Each of us said what we saw you doing. Braden saw you giving him a ride on the tractor. Kyle saw you helping him drive the tractor. I saw you playing Ride A Little Pony with them on your leg.  Kyle was looking out the window and ask me how you got up there above the clouds. I told him it was like an upstairs and a downstairs. Airplanes could take people above the clouds and this is like a downstairs. Above the airplane was more sky. It was like an upstairs with more soft pretty clouds above that sky. Only God can take you there, no one else can and you can't go by yourself. That was how Paw Paw and other people got there. Kyle said "Oh it's like a big mansion, right?" I said yes and he was satisfied.

I remember when we went looking for Eagles to take pictures of them. Last two weeks Aunt Joann and Unkie Dave took me. First week nothing. Last week a couple but pictures  didn't turn out. Today I went to store for eggs and decided to drive back where we went last week, by myself. WOW did I find Eagles. They didn't try to fly away when I took pictures. Today is Feb.26th, wonder if you and the 6 helped me.I think that was a big part of it. Felt like you were showing me the way. JILUD

hey grandpa just letting you know we all still think about you everyday and that the boys do know who you are. I just told rex last night, im not sure what made me think about it but i had my hair in a pony tail and i asked rex if he knew what you used to tell me about pony tails. You would ask me whats under a ponys tail then you would say a horses butt. And chuckle, you always chuckled at yourself. Made me smile. Love you.

I was talking to Dustin and telling him how much I miss you and how proud you'd be that Gavin and Garrett both have your middle name, I was crying and having a hard time. 
 Dustin said, "remember nature's rule.. one must leave for another to enter... it took two boys to fill grandpa's shoes!."

Just got a call saying Garrett (Earl Meier = 9 letters) was born on Feburary, 22,2011(2,2,2= 6). Garrett was born at 1:17 A.M. (1,1,7=9)weighs 7:7 lbs,and is 19(another 9) inches long. You always send a 6,9. or both when I need you, or something special happens. That makes me feel like you are letting us know you are still with us and looking out for us. I'll give Garrett extra hugs and kisses from you. He'll know how special and smart his Paw Paw was because he told me from his hospitol bed that you were on the way and even your Mom and Dad didn't know yet. Robert I miss you so much. Yesterday I had a great day of remembering us. You would take me to look for Eagles so I could take pictures.
Yesterday Aunt Joann and Dave  took me to several places to try to get pictures of Eagles. Dave would stop a lot so I could get out and wait patiently like you always did. Dave also had on a jacket almost like the one you wore all the time. JILUD

When the girls were young and got in trouble, their punishment was to fix sack lunches. I started volunteering for Meals On Wheels. Part of my job is to help pack sack lunches. Terry and Tina laughed at me and Terry said you are the one that put me on that job.
I would fix you a dozen sack lunches a day  for you if I could have you back.

Thought of you and laughed today. I have a new patient and they call her Queen Bee. Thanks for the nudge today, I needed that. Love you and miss you but am so grateful for all the wonderful memories. You'd be so proud of mom and how she is taking care of herself and doing new things.

I picked up my Preciuos Moments pocket planner this morning. On the front was a  Preciouse Moments boy and girl each holding a basket of lilacs.

First flowers you gave me were lilacs from your Mom's bush. No reason because we weren't married and I wasn't a Mother. Just happened to be Mother's day. Every Mother's day after that you would pick me lilacs, if they weren't ready or had already bloomed and gone, you wouldn't pick me any. You said I only got them on Mother's Day. J.U.I.L.U.D.

Dad I miss you so much that at times I don't know how to go on. I do becuase that is what you would want. I hang onto the memories and your smile and the love you gave so freely.
 Mom is doing so many new things on her own, even getting lost and figuring out how to get where she needs to go. I know you are smiling down on all of us and are so proud of how mom is doing.
 You live on in our hearts and all the wonderful memories you left us with.

More first to get through without you, but the signs are here to show you are still in my life and watching over me.  They show up someway when I need you most. They are numbers 6 or 9 or both. On November 24th (2+4 = 6) Gavin Earl ( letters total 9) his middle name is after you. He was born at 5:31  (add up to 9). Gavin weighs 7lb 8oz. (7+8=15 and 1+5=6).

You use to tease me and say I was a 9 and then laugh and say you were teasing I was a 10.

Saturday Nov. 27th (2+7=9) we will have our family Thanksgiving at Terry and Pat's like we do every year. We all have our own signs from you and are grateful to God for giving each of us that.

Today was another very hard first. My 70th birthday without you.
Danielle and Rex also Dustin and Tara are having a baby boy. Number 8& 9 great grandsons for us. I took Danielle's blanket to the embroidery shop. I forgot my purse in the car. When I went out to get it I didn't hear any music but when I was going back into the shop I heard our song by Johnny Mathis on the outside speakers at the Metro Center. He was singing the part that says Chancers Are You Think I'm In Love With You. Well Chances  Are Awfully Good.
Thank you for the birthday present and letting me know you are still looking out for me. I love and miss you so very much.

Many memories remain, and you will never be forgotten. We all know you are watching down from Heaven with that smile that could light up a room. You are loved and missed!

Who Robert was and how his grandchildren felt about him lives on in your great-grandchildren.  So very special :)

Things aren't any easier without you but I know you are looking out for me so I'll make it.

October 16th Danielle ask me if it was ok for the new baby to have your middle name. Dustin didn't know about it and called Terry and ask if she thought I would care if they had your middle name for their baby. 
I said that we would like for both of them to do that. So in November Gavin Earl will be born and in February Garrett? Earl will be born.

Today a squirrel came to computer room side of the house. He looked in at me and kept staring and moving close as he could without falling off the old irioning board with feeder on it. So I went out and put artificial flower arrangement by feeder thinking I could get good pictures. Guess he doesn't like my setup because he hasn't been back. Or he realized you still weren't here so he left.

When I took Braden home I brought Kyle home  for the day and all night, like we use to do . He noticed the toys I had for a yard sale. He found a tool box for mini cars and couldn't get it open. He said I wish Paw Paw was here he could show me how to open this. About that time it opened. His eyes got big he looked up to the sky and he said "Thank you Paw Paw". Later he ask for you to help him with something and nothing happened. I explained that the reason you didn't help is because you knew if he tried harder he could do it sometime soon. He said "Oh OK Paw Paw."

More first time things without you. They are VERY hard. Braden saw picture of you and Mel, he ask what's that? I said Paw Paw and your Grandma at a party. He pointed to you and said I want to go to Grandma's that's where Paw Paw is. He's only 3 and didn't understand when he would ask for you and you weren't there so he thought he figured it out.

I cannot believe a whole month has already gone by.  For you it probably seems like years.

We love you more and more every day and marvel at your courage and that you are finding hope in the little things as best you can.

We would have had 52 years together on July 5th. I remember our honeymoon well. We had twin beds and stayed in room 13. What a start  to our new life together.

We always signed everything to one another JILUD. It meant Joined In Love Until death.  It should have read JIL, Joined In Love  because death doesn't stop the love. I miss you so very much.

All our memories of the ups and downs will get me through until we are together again.

You were the one that would spot something good to take a picture of while we were driving along. You would pull over and I would get a good picture of one thing or another. We took pictures of 3 different hawks and they were among our favorites.

I had them professionaly framed and will take them to the hospitol today to be put on the wall in the cancer unit in your honor.

I know when we meet again you will be waiting at the pearly gates for me with a pepsi and a donut.

Your other half

There are not enough words to describe what an awesome man you were. You have taught us so many wonderful things, by example; honesty, unconditonal love, how to laugh, the importance of family and friends. 
 I miss you so much and will always love you. What wonderful memories you have left us to cherish as your family and as your friend. We had so many great times together and as a family, thank you for all those "little" things you did. You live on in our hearts and the memories we share. I will always call you dad with honor and pride. I love and miss you

I miss you so much dad.  I have a whole in my heart.  You are the were the most wonderful dad, grandpa, friend, person I was ever lucky enough to know.  We always had a good time.  Fishing (even if we didn't catch any fish) KFC afterwards, gardening or doing nothing.  You always showed your love.  The since of humor you had was amazing.  You tought me so much.  You will always be in my heart.  I Love and Miss You so much. Thank You so much for not only being my dad, but also being my friend and support through life.

Dad was the most amazing man you will ever meet. We could not of asked for a better and more caring dad. There are so many wonderful memories that it would be to many to name. But i will Always realize how truely blessed i was to be his daughter. I love him (and mom) with more love than my heart can hold. I love and miss him every day. See you in Heaven Daddy. You are being cared for many miles away up here in Canada.  Through all Robert's illness and now with his passing, Steve and I have continued to hold you close and to pray for you.  

You stood by him so very loyally and lovingly and Robert would see your devotion in everything you have done.

Dear Mary,
I have been trying to come up with the special words to let you know how much you and Bob have meant to Bridget and I. The only words I can come up with are"thank You" from the center of our hearts. It has meant so much to us to have people like you and Bob around us and has brought great joy into our lives. I hope you know that we will all miss Bob and that he will have a special place in our hearts forever. I would also like my new adopted sisters Terri, Melony, and Tina to know how much I have enjoyed getting to know them and our special time together while Bob was going to Heaven. Bridget and I Love you all and we Love and miss our new Uncle Bob even more.

I sure will miss him greatly.But his love  and memories will live with me forever.Im not gonna say goodbye cause one day we will all be back together ..and Lord help us he will be chasing us with rubber bands again. Mary Jane and Girls/grandchildren,  I don't even know where to begin on telling what a wonderful brother Robert was to me.  I've known him for 52 years and he treated everyone with the utmost respect.  Robert was the type of guy that found the good in everyone.  I remember the times I went to his house and he would give me milk of magnesia for a treat.  He thought it was funny and I guess at the time I did too. At least it gave us a lot to laugh about over the years.   I cherish all the memories I have of Robert and the chats we had over coffee.  He was remarkable.  I love him more than life but I know he's in a better place.  He is without pain and is with all his other family and I'm sure still telling all his jokes in Heaven.  God got a perfect angel when he got Robert.  I Love you Robert and will miss you forever- I'm glad you are pain free.  Your sister, Sharon

To Bob's family, I know it is redundant for me to say what a special man Bob was, you already know that, but he made Caterpillar a lot more tolerable and at times almost enjoyable.  The advice and guidance he gave me carried me through the rest of my career at Cat and I thank him for that.  He was a most gentle and loving man to know and not be related to.  May God's peace comfort you during this time of sorrow.
