He was born on June 23, 1940 in Arenzville, IL to Robert and Catherine (Clasing) Cox. He married Dolores Jennie (Mangold) Cox on November 19, 1966 in Peoria. She preceded him in death on September 30, 2022. He was also preceded in death by his parents and one sister, Gracie (Cox) Freeman.
Surviving are three children, Gregory Allen Cox, Bradley Allen Cox, Theresa Lynn (Cox) Holshouser; his grandchildren, Kaitlynn (Holshouser) Geiger, Anthony Holshouser, Brittany Holshouser, Brody Cox, Logan Cox, Jacob Cox, Braden Cox; two great-grandchildren, Tyler Geiger and Travis Geiger; and two sisters, Karen (Cox) Ruse of Edelstein and Janice (Cox) Kendall of Dunlap.
Robert graduated from Dunlap High School and worked at the Rock Island Railroad and retired from Alcoa.
He dearly loved his wife of almost 56 years, his family, and anything to do with the family farm, with a passion for gardening.
A visitation will be Tuesday, January 3, 2023 from 5 to 7 pm at Davison-Fulton Woolsey-Wilton Funeral Home in Peoria. A graveside service will be at 11:00 am on Wednesday, January 4, 2023 at Prospect Cemetery in Dunlap. The Rev Jack Thompson will officiate.
