He was born in Peoria on August 2, 1925 to Henry and Emma (Gerst) Binkele. He married Bernetta Hess on March 19, 1961 in Peoria. She survives.
Also surviving are his brother and sister-in-law, Max and Katherine Hoerr; his sister-in-law, Rhoda Hess; as well as many beloved nieces and nephews, and great and great-great nieces and nephews.
He was the last survivor of his family and was preceded in death by his siblings, Frieda Hoerr, Henry Binkele, Esther Hoerr, Emma Eshelman, Vera Klaus, Otto Binkele, Pauline Laidig, Rudy Binkele, Elmer Binkele, Matilda Beaver, Dorothy Haefli, Richard Binkele and his twin sister, Bette Binkele.
Robert served in the US Air Force during WWII. He worked as a timekeeper for Caterpillar for 36 years before retiring.
He was a member of the Peoria Apostolic Christian church and he served his Lord faithfully for many years. He was the oldest male member of the church at the time of his passing.
Robert loved traveling to Florida in the winter with his beloved wife.
A funeral service will be at 10:30 am on Thursday, April 13, 2023, with a visitation one hour prior to the service at Davison-Fulton Woolsey-Wilton Funeral Home. Pastor Ken Hoerr will officiate. Burial will follow the service at the Apostolic Christian Cemetery in Edwards with full military honors.
