Richard “Rick” Vicary, 65, of Ballwin, Missouri, formerly of Peoria and Hanna City, died unexpectedly in Oak Creek, Wisconsin, on Tuesday, December 26, 2017. Rick was born in Peoria, Illinois, on July 23, 1952, to Richard E. and Hazel L. (Floyd) Vicary. He married Rita M. Conlon on November 3, 1973 in Peoria. Surviving are his beloved family: wife, Rita; son, Bryan Vicary (Kymm Croxton) of Peoria; daughter Alayna (Josh) Mertens of Oak Creek, Wisconsin; granddaughters Lorelai and Annora Mertens of Oak Creek; mother, Hazel Vicary of Peoria; brother Brad (Deena) Vicary of Peoria; and a large extended family who meant the world to him. His father and sister, Janice Vicary, preceded him in death. Rick owned and operated Rick’s True Value Hardware Store in Hanna City for 17 years and later owned and operated Country Catalog Outlet in Hanna City. He worked at KBL Design Center for 13 years, retiring in 2011. Rick was known for his devotion to his family, his great sense of humor and quick wit, and his selfless generosity in helping family and friends. Services will be at Davison Fulton Woodland Chapel in Peoria, with visitation from 4:00 to 6:00 p.m. Wednesday, January 3, and funeral at 11:00 a.m. Thursday, January 4.
