Richard Lee "Rick" McDonald, 65, of Peoria Heights, passed away on Friday, December 9, 2022 at his home. He was born on October 8, 1957 in Peoria, a son of Kenneth Richard and Rose Marie (Clearwater) McDonald. Rick married Linda Kay Porter on September 9, 2011 in Peoria. She survives.
He is also survived by his daughter, Ashley McDonald of Peoria; his beloved pet dog, Skeeter; eight nieces and nephews, Terri (Mike) Anderson of Ohio, Mike (Kim) Porter of Ohio, Tim Porter of California, Cindy (Tyler) Boyer of Springfield, Larry Porter, Jr. of Peoria, Linda Vetter of Chicago, Melissa Crew of Dixon, and Ronnie (Shara) Daniels of Dixon; and several great-nieces and great-nephews.
Rick was preceded in death by his mother-in-law and father-in-law; two brothers-in-law, Larry Porter, Sr. and Charles Porter; and his beloved pet dog, Sadie.
He worked as an electrician for CILCO/Ameren for over 40 years, retiring in 2019. He last worked in maintenance for Avanti's Ristorante in the Peoria area.
Rick was an avid supporter and volunteer for St. Jude Children's Research Hospital in Memphis, Tennessee and the St. Jude Midwest Affiliate Clinic in Peoria. He and Linda were involved in the St. Jude Rides for 15 years.
Rick was a very talented handyman and could fix anything. He had his own brand of humor, unique to himself and would joke with anyone. He loved watching hummingbirds. Rick loved his family and friends fiercely. To know him was to appreciate him. Rick was true to his faith all his life.
Rick's visitation will be from 4:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. on Tuesday, December 13, 2022 at the Davison-Fulton-Woolsey-Wilton Funeral Home in Peoria. His funeral service will follow the visitation at 8:00 p.m. The inurnment will take place at a later date in Swan Lake Memory Gardens in Peoria. There will also be a celebration of life service at a later date.
