He was born on June 12, 1947 in Youngstown, Ohio to Charles Edward and Ruth Evelyn (Hilles) Stroup. They preceded him in death.
Ray married Margaret “Margee” Elizabeth Sahli on January 16, 1971 in Lake Milton, Ohio. She survives.
Ray is also survived by his two daughters, Wendy Stroup of Washington, IL and Nicole (Jacob) Larson of Peoria; three grandchildren, Logan Walliker of Washington, IL, Porter Ray Larson of Peoria and Rowan Margaret Larson of Peoria; one brother, Rick (Cledith) Stroup of Austintown, OH; and many nieces and nephews.
Ray retired from Caterpillar in May of 2006 where he was a mechanical engineer. He was an avid St. Jude Memphis marathon runner for many years and loved the River to River run with the Rhino Runners. He loved the outdoors, fishing, camping and golfing at Timberlake. He also enjoyed watching Ohio State sports and playing solitaire. Most of all he loved watching his grandchildren participate in sports and cheering them on.
The family would like to thank the OSF 5th Floor Cardiac Unit for all their loving care of Ray.
