She was born April 6, 1929 in Henry County Munson Township to Leona Alma Stanke Hull and Carl Russel Hull. She married Thomas H Taylor IV on July 16, 1947 in Omaha Nebraska until he passed in 2012.
Surviving are their 3 children, Cathy (Doug) Hafley of Metamora, Sharon (Jerry) Wenger of Groveland, and Thomas H Taylor the 5th of Peoria and two sisters Corrine Johnson and Janet Rusk and a brother Bill Hull.
She was a grandmother of 6, Christina (Chad) Faulkner, Julie (Mike) Kamm, Michelle (Rimas) Chatkevicius, Cali (Allan) Wenger, Kitra Wenger, TJ Taylor 6th and a great grandmother of 14.
She was preceded in death by her husband of 65 years, their daughter Marcia Ann Taylor, nine brothers and one sister.
She taught her children so many valuable lifelong lessons and the main one was to walk with Jesus. Prayer was a significant part of her life and made it a part of her children and grandchildren’s life.
She will always be remembered for her post-it-notes of Bible verses on the mirror in the bathroom and for bedtime prayers with her grandchildren.
Sally was a housewife and mother when raising their children and worked outside the home when they were older. She loved working with her hands in the garden and making things beautiful and it wasn’t surprising to see her work for a greenhouse.
She also worked as a bridal consultant and then went back to school for her CNA license and pursued a career in caregiving for seniors and young children.
Sally was also a member of Mt. Calvary Lutheran Church and joined a Sunday morning and monthly Bible Study group and volunteered to help during church events and enjoyed taking her grandchildren to Vacation Bible School.
Her children have many wonderful memories of her getting up in the morning and she always made herself presentable in her finest clothing and put on her starlit pink lipstick and Chloe Narcisse or evening in Paris perfume. She was a great hostess for all occasions from people just stopping by to Holiday dinners or just having the family together. To her grandchildren, Gramma brought a sense of home to the holidays and she will be so missed this coming Christmas season.
She was a fantastic cook and baker. The smells of baked bread and famous Tea Rings that were given as gifts are still in her family’s sensory memories and that tradition was passed down to her daughters, granddaughters, and now older great granddaughters.
The family was blessed and are grateful for all the loving care she received over the last 15 months during her stay at the Lodge and to four special nurses, Brandi, Robin, Robbie, and Melissa, and the CNA’s especially for Jennifer being there in her last hour. We also want to recognize hospice for the dignified care they gave Sally.
She called the Lodge staff her family and she knew they cared and it became her home and she loved her brief time there. It was truly outstanding care.
A visitation will be held at Davison-Fulton Woodland Chapel between 1 and 2 pm Monday, August 5, 2024 followed by a funeral service at 2 p.m. You may view the services on the Davison-Fulton Woodland Chapel Facebook page Livestream.
