He was born October 30, 1937 in West Frankfort, IL, to Philip and Lillian Maud (Ellis) Hill. He married Marie Burrus on February 14, 2001 in Peoria. She survives.
Also surviving are his three children, Philip Leroy (Cheryl) Hill of Eminence, MO, Linda K. Miller of Marion, IL, and John (Judy) Hill of West Frankfort, IL; one stepson, John (Maria) Burrus of Peoria; and 8 grandchildren.
His parents, two sisters, Phyllis and Billie, and a step-son, Ken Burrus preceded him in death.
Ed worked in the HVAC Maintenance Dept. for Caterpillar Inc for over 36 years before retiring. He was a member of Crossroads Baptist Church in Peoria, where he served as a Trustee. Ed enjoyed watching NASCAR and being active in his church.
A funeral service will at 11 a.m. on Thursday, April 13, 2023, with visitation one hour prior to the service at Davison-Fulton Woodland Chapel. Pastor Clark will officiate. Burial will follow the service in Swan Lake Memory Gardens in Peoria.
