Perry was born in Plymouth, Indiana, to Jesse and Marcella White of Culver, Indiana. Perry graduated from Culver High School in 1970, where he was a member of the baseball, basketball, and golf teams. He was a member of the National Honor Society and the salutatorian of his graduating class.
He graduated from Purdue University in 1975 with a Bachelor’s Degree in Electrical Engineering. He married Rebecca C. Blessing of Markle, Indiana on August 23, 1975 at the First Presbyterian Church in Bluffton. They moved to Peoria, Illinois in 1976.
Perry began working at Caterpillar Tractor Co. in 1976 in the College Graduate Training Program. He retired in 2006 as a Senior Computing Engineer supporting ClearCase software. After retiring from Caterpillar Inc. Perry worked for IBM as an instructor for ClearCase users and administrators.
Perry played in the Caterpillar Tech Center golf league for many years. Perry enjoyed fishing, boating, riding motorcycles and was an ardent Cubs fan and Purdue University basketball fan. He was a member of the Brimfield Volunteer Fire Department for several years after he retired. He enjoyed traveling, particularly to Hawaii.
Perry was a devoted and faithful husband and wonderful father. He enjoyed spending time with his adopted families of friends and neighbors. He was a kind-hearted man of integrity and faith. He loved helping others and was quick to strike up conversations with strangers.
He is survived by his wife, Rebecca C. (Becky) White, and son Jeremiah G. White of Peoria, Illinois and two older brothers, Paul White of Roanoke, Indiana and Philip White of La Paz, Indiana.
In lieu of flowers memorials can be made to the National Rifle Association or the Heart of Illinois United Way.
Due to Covid restrictions, private family services will be held.
