Orville John "Rusty" Smith Jr.

Rusty was born Dec. 25, 1941 in Peoria to Orville Sr. and Henrietta (Smiles) Smith. He married Peggy Ann Wells June 8, 1968 at the Forrest Hill United Methodist Church in Peoria. She survives along with three sons: Scott Wells of Ireland, Eric Wells of Bartonville, Dustin (Lisa) Smith of Normal, six grandchildren: Eric (Molly) Wells, Jr of Washington, Emily Wells of Trivoli, Lauren Wells of Peoria, Levi Wells of Bartonville, Benjamin and Alex Smith of Normal, and one great-grandson, Silas Tomlinson of Trivoli.

He was preceded in death by his father.

Rusty graduated from Richwoods High School in 1960. He served in the United States Navy from 1960-1964. Rusty was employed as a Graphic Artist at Fleming Potter Printing Co. for over 30 years retiring in 2000.

His interests included archery, hunting, and photography. He was a lifelong Chicago Cubs fan. He attended the University United Methodist Church in Peoria.

The family would like to express sincere gratitude to the staff at OSF Richard Owens Hospice Home for making Rusty’s passing peaceful and compassionate.

Funeral services will be Saturday May 31, 2014 at 11 a.m. at the Davison-Fulton Woolsey-Wilton Funeral Home in Peoria. Visitation will be one hour prior to the services.

Cremation rites will be accorded following the services.

Memorials may be made to St. Jude Midwest Affiliate or the OSF Richard L. Owens Hospice Home.
