She was born May 25, 1938 in Creve Coeur to Carl and Eliza (Mingus) Selman. She married E.R. “Dick” Gates on Feb. 28, 1966 in Alexandria, MO. He passed away May 5, 1996 in Peoria. She was also preceded in death by her parents, and one brother, Paul Selman.
Survivors include three children: Lisa (James) Stein of Peoria, Robert Gates of Peoria, Amy Pleshko of Galesburg, one sister Jane Schroeder, 11 grandchildren 10 great grandchildren, and her two fuzzy friends: Toto and Kitty Kitty.
Our little bird has flown away, between fading stars and dawns new day. Now she waits, with warm embrace, til she sees again our smiling face.
Family services will be private with burial in Parkview Cemetery. Davison-Fulton Woolsey-Wilton Funeral Home in Peoria is in charge of arrangements.
