Mike Riddle Jr., 69, of Peoria, passed away on November 24, 2013 after a long struggle with Parkinson’s disease.
Mike loved Corvettes, his grandchildren, obsessively manicuring his lawn, This Old House, attending car shows, dry humor, Corvettes, teasing/infuriating his wife, The Three Stooges, The Rolling Stones, ZZ Top, Dirty Harry, itemizing lists and straightening EVERYTHING, Corvettes, The History Channel, angrily and futilely cheering on the Braves/Bears/Illini, spending time with his children, and Corvettes — not necessarily in that order.
He was born on November 10, 1944 in Evanston, Illinois to Michael and Dorothy “Dotty” Snyder Riddle. His family soon moved to Peoria, Illinois, where he graduated from Peoria High School. After marrying his sweetheart, Marilyn England, he sold his 1964 GTO to pay for their first house (a sacrifice that he often questioned, but sufficiently remedied with future Corvette purchases).
Mike started his banking profession with the Bond Loan Company which eventually led to a long and successful career with the 1st National Bank of Peoria and Commerce Bank. He took pride in his role as Vice President of Consumer Lending and particularly enjoyed his years working in the State Farm Car Finance Program. He retired from Morton Community Bank in 2007.
Michael is survived by Marilyn, his wife of 45 years; daughter Chris (Rod) Bray of Bloomington; son Mike (Karyn) of Madison, WI; and five grandchildren, Mason, Zachariah, Kendall, Owen, and Elliot.
A visitation will be held from 2:00-4:00 p.m. on Sunday, Dec. 1 at Davison-Fulton Woolsey-Wilton Funeral Home in Peoria. The memorial service will follow at 4:00 p.m. Memorial contributions may be made to OSF Hospice.
