Mary Jane Russell, age 96, of Peoria, passed away Thursday March 31, 2016 at 10:05 a.m. at the Cornerstone Rehabilitation and Health Care Center in Peoria Heights. She was born on September 18, 1919 in Peoria to Royal and Nellie (Sank) Zerwekh. She married James Ray Russell in St. Louis County, MO. December 23, 1939. He passed away October 22, 2006 in Peoria. She was also preceded in death by one sister, Dorothy Coulter. She is survived by one son, Dr. R. Scott (Nanette) Russell of Morton; one grandson, Benjamin (Cathy) Russell of Peoria; three granddaughters: Carly (Matt) Hoskins of Lacon, Kaitlyn Russell and Kenzie Russell of Morton; and five great-grandchildren: Suzi, Benjamin Jr, Sophia, Brooklyn, and Colette. Mary Jane had lived at Cornerstone Rehabilitation and Health Care from 2012 until her death. She enjoyed working with Braille for the Blind. She was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church in Peoria. She believed in the Bible as the inspired word of God and trusted in Jesus Christ as her Saviour. She was a great wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother. She will be greatly missed by all of those who knew her. Visitation will be Sunday April 3, 2016 from 3 to 5 p.m. at the Davison-Fulton Woolsey-Wilton Funeral Home in Peoria. Funeral services will be Monday April 4, 2016 at 10 a.m. at Trinity Lutheran Church in Peoria. Rev. Mark Nelson will officiate. Additional visitation will be one half hour prior to the services on Monday at the Church.
Burial will be in Swan Lake Memory Gardens in Peoria. Memorial contributions may be made to Trinity Lutheran Church.
