Mary L. Starr

Mary was born on August 20, 1929 in Cairo, Missouri to Ray and Jewell (Reynolds) Haynes. She married John Carson Starr on December 21, 1947 in Peoria, IL. He preceded her in death in 2002. Also preceding her in death are her son, William Starr; her parents; and eight siblings.

Surviving are her daughter-in-law, Sandra Lynn Starr of Peoria, IL; her grandson, Nathan Starr of Peoria, IL; three brothers, Robert, Richard and Ronald Haynes; one sister, Shirley Brown; and several nieces and nephews.

Mary was a secretary for Prudential Insurance and later was a clerk for Caterpillar Tractor Company until she retired in December of 1984. She enjoyed fishing and bowling, but her real passions were sewing; and her family, whom she loved dearly.

Services will be held on Tuesday, June 9, 2015 at 10am at Davison-Fulton Woodland Chapel in Peoria. Her nephew, Pastor Robert Martin, will be officiating. Visitation will be held on Monday, June 8, 2015 from 4pm to 6pm at the funeral home. Burial will be at Swan Lake Memory Gardens in Peoria. Memorials may be made to the Alzheimer’s Association.
