Peoria - Mark James Stahl, 60, of Peoria, passed away at 1:25 p.m. on Thursday, July 23, 2020 at OSF St. Francis Medical Center ER. He was born on November 28, 1959 in Peoria, a son of Duane and Beverly (Mitchell) Stahl. He married Annette Mercer on June 6, 1980 in Peoria. She survives.
Also surviving are two daughters, Michelle (Shawn) Downey of Creve Coeur and Melissa (Frankie) Stoecker of Washington; seven grandchildren, Franklin, Logan, Bryson, Gavyn, and Camden Stoecker, and Ava and Ayden Downey, and one granddaughter, Autumn Rae Stoecker, due in October; mother, Beverly Stahl of Peoria; sister, Bonnie (Wayne Bolgla) Stahl of Marietta, GA; two brothers, Jaymie (Lynn) Stahl and Adam Stahl, both of Peoria; several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his father; and one granddaughter, Kelsey Stahl.
Mark worked as a courier for Illinois Cancer Care in Peoria since 2017. He previously had worked as an engineer for Caterpillar, Inc., retiring in 2016. He was a member of Redeemer Lutheran Church in Peoria and the Gentleman's Cigar Society of Central Illinois. He was an avid cyclist and he loved attending his grandchildren's sporting events. He was a huge St. Louis Cardinals and Denver Broncos fan. He loved a good cigar and a glass of bourbon.
Mark's celebration of life gathering will be held at a later date. Cremation has been accorded. Davison-Fulton-Woolsey-Wilton Funeral Home in Peoria is handling arrangements. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Illinois Cancer Care or Alzheimer's Association.
