Peoria – Marjorie Cervenka passed away on Monday, February 13, 2012 at the age of 85. She was born at home in Danvers, IL on December 27, 1926 which was also her mother’s birth date. Marge was preceded in death by her husband of 58 years, George Cervenka who passed away in 2007. They were married April 29, 1949. She was also preceded in death by four brothers and two sisters. Marge is survived by her son Keith (Angela) Cervenka of San Diego, CA, daughter Karen (Michael) Baylor and grandchildren Kendall and Addison Baylor of Nipomo, CA. She is also survived by her sisters Millie (Bob) Wegman of Mackinaw, IL and Eileen (Bill) Tackett of Morton, IL, and many nieces and nephews. She was one of eight brothers and sisters.
Marge moved to Peoria in 1946 from Armington, IL and got a job at Caterpillar Tractor Company on Prospect Street. That’s where she met her husband George. They lived in a small two story two bedroom home in Peoria Heights, and then in 1964, they moved to a brand new neighborhood called Rolling Acres.
Marge was an active member of the Republican Party, was a member of Grace Presbyterian Church, and later helped to form The Bible Church of Central Illinois. Marge and George moved to Mission Viejo, CA after George retired from Caterpillar in 1977. She moved back to Illinois in 2008 where she spent the last three and a half years living at the Apostolic Christian Restmor Nursing Home in Morton, IL.
Services will be held at 11 am Wednesday, February 22, 2012 at Davison-Fulton Woodland Chapel. Visitation will be one hour prior to the service. Interment will be in Parkview Cemetery.
