Leslie Bronson Wilson, 93, of East Peoria, Illinois passed away at his residence on Wednesday, February 15, 2017 surrounded by his loving family. He was born on March 29, 1923 in Lincoln, Illinois to Creston Bronson and Mary Jane (McMurtry) Wilson. He married Myra Earlene Wilson on December 25, 1945 in Peoria Heights. She preceded him in death in 2005. He was also preceded in death by his parents, one nephew, Tommy Wilson and sister-in-law Norma Wilson.
He is survived by one daughter, Anne Bailey of East Peoria; one brother, Charles A. Wilson of Washington, Illinois; two grandchildren, Marshall B.(Evlyn) Bailey of Findlay, Illinois and Abbey L. (Stephen) Bailey Wilson; seven great grandchildren, Victoria, Alan And Leo Bailey of Findlay, Illinois, Dade, Dominic, Ellison and Dewey Wilson of Washington, Illinois; one niece, Kristine Wilson of Washington.
Leslie was a checker in Tool Design at Caterpillar Inc. for many years, retiring in 1985. He was a WWII Army Veteran. He was a member of the Society of Manufacturing Engineers, Veteran of Foreign Wars, Peoria Archery Club and a former member of the Ivy Club. He was a member of the First United Methodist Church of East Peoria and was a member and past treasurer of the United Methodist Men’s Club.
Funeral services will be at 11:00 AM Saturday, February 18, 2017 at the Davison Fulton Woodland Chapel. The Rev. Mary Arnold will officiate. Visitation will be from 10 AM until 11 AM Saturday at the funeral home. Burial will be in the Parkview Cemetery with full military rites. Memorials may be made to the Greater Peoria Honor Flight.
