Leon Sanchez, affectionately known as Leo, was born on April 12, 1959, in Guerrero, Mexico, and passed away on September 28, 2024, in Peoria, Illinois. He leaves behind a legacy of love and joy, cherished by his family and friends.
Leo was a dedicated father to his five children, Erika Guerrero, Elizabeth Guerrero, Edgar Sanchez Guerrero, Pamela J. Sanchez Munoz, and Katherine E. Sanchez Munoz. He took immense pride in his role as a grandfather to four grandchildren, two boys and two girls, with whom he shared countless joyful moments.
In his leisure time, Leo found happiness in singing, listening to the music of his favorite artists like Ramon Ayala, Vicente Fernandez, Los Tigres De Norte, and Los Tucanes De Tijuana. His love for music was matched only by his fondness for traditional Mexican dishes, especially pozole, mole, enchiladas, and tamales made by his sister-in-law, as well as bread baked by his sister.
Leo was a hardworking man, known for his skills as a mechanic and his dedication as a dishwasher. His passion for life extended to his hobbies, which included working on projects around the house and enjoying sports, particularly soccer and boxing. He also had a playful side, often taking joy in watching his favorite show, "El Chavo Del Ocho."
Leo is survived by his two brothers and three sisters, who will remember him fondly for his warmth and humor. He will be deeply missed by all who knew him, but his spirit will live on in the hearts of his children and grandchildren, who were his greatest treasures.
A visitation for Leon will be held Friday, October 4, 2024 from 5:00 PM to 7:00 PM at Davison-Fulton Woodland Chapel, 2021 N University Street, Peoria, Illinois 61604. A funeral service will occur Saturday, October 5, 2024 at 9:30 AM at St. Joseph Catholic Church, 103 S Richard Pryor Place, Peoria, Illinois 61605.
