Lawrence "Larry" Murphy

Lawrence "Larry" Murphy, 83, of West Peoria, passed away Thursday, May 31, 2018 at his home.

He was born on December 19, 1934 in Peoria the son of Richard and Stella (Hedges) Murphy. He married Loretta Lingenfelter on July 25, 1953 and she preceded him in death December 12, 1982. He later married Peggy Oliver on May 25, 1985 in Morton, IL.

Surviving are his wife Peggy of West Peoria; four children, Larry A (Lora) Murphy of Washington, IL, Cindy L. (Dan) Butler of West Peoria, Mark D. (Chris Cowan) Murphy of Peoria and Karen L. (James) Hinkle of Edelstein; three step-children, James (Midori) Oliver, Jan (Pat) Mulloy and Julie Davis; seven grandchildren, Chris A. Murphy, Michael Butler, Justin Butler, Martin Butler, Ian Douglas Murphy, Jacob Hinkle and Lucas Hinkle; three great-grandsons; two sisters, Doris Hawksworth and Gloria (Roy) Keith; and two brothers, William (Alberta) Murphy and Michael (Rosemary) Murphy.

He was preceded in death by his parents; two brothers Richard Murphy and John T. "Jack" Murphy and two sisters, June Hoffman and Patricia Roedell.

Larry worked as a Finish Carpenter for P & W Builders and then as a Printer with Edward Hines Printing. He enjoyed golfing, bowling, camping, traveling and watching the Cubs. Larry was a devoted husband and father who loved spending time with his family. He will be missed by all.

A funeral service will be on Monday, June 4, 2018 at 11 am with visitation one hour prior to the service at Davison-Fulton Woodland Chapel in Peoria. Burial will follow the service at Lutheran Cemetery in Peoria.
