He was born on March 17, 1958 in Peoria to Lee Albert and Mary Ellen (Fulbright) Thomas. They preceded him in death.
Surviving are his three sons, Lawrence (Shelly) Thomas of Forney, TX, Tre Carew of Dallas, and Brandon Neish of Nashville, TN, whom he raised; three grandchildren, Olivia, Ariah, and Gabriella Thomas; seven siblings, Doris Jean Watts of Peoria, Vernon L. (Karen) Thomas of Peoria, Carolyn Thomas of Champaign, Nell Thomas, Michael A. (Brenda) Thomas, Cheryl (Fernando) Thomas De Reyes and Sherry Thomas all of Peoria; five aunts, Emma Harris of Paris, TX, Ethel Vera Fulbright of Kansas City, MO, Alice Hearn of Paris, TX, Ann Fulbright also of Paris, TX, and Barbara Fulbright of Indepence, MO; surrogate mother, Roberta Jackson of Peoria; and a host of nieces and nephews.
Larry was a member of the Pentecostal Church of Jesus Christ in Peoria, where he was a member of the church choir and could be found sharing the word of the Lord. He was baptized in Jesus name in 1971 and filled with the Holy Ghost.
Larry was a graduate of Woodruff High School where he played football and was an all-state wrestler under the leadership of James Querciagrossa. He worked as a manager for MC Sporting Goods for many years before retiring. He also worked as a youth counselor with the Children's Home in Peoria and the Southside Mission. Larry enjoyed fishing, hunting, and was a chef extraordinaire. He also loved to sing in the choir, play bass, and play chess.
The funeral service will be at 10 am on Saturday, April 19, 2025 with the visitation one hour prior to the service at the Pentecostal Church of Jesus Christ in Peoria. Burial will follow the service at Springdale Cemetery in Peoria. Davison-Fulton Woodland Chapel is in charge of arrangements.
