He was born on July 11, 1936 in East Peoria, IL to Welcome and Elsie (Prichett) Davis. He married Shirley Carlton, then later married Beverly Fleener on July 5, 1991 in East Peoria. He was preceded in death by his parents, three brothers and one sister.
Surviving are his wife, Beverly of Peoria, two children, Connie (Dr. Larry) Nord and Larry (Eden) Davis Jr. both of Bloomington, two step-children, Kelly Pulfrey and Gregg Chamberlain both of Peoria, eight grandchildren and five great-grandchildren. Also surviving are four siblings, Welcome (Joyce) Davis of Tremont; Bill (Annabelle) Davis of South Windsor, CT; Jerry (Arlene) Davis of Mapleton; and Joyce Davis of Pekin.
Larry was a Track and Field star at East Peoria Community High School and was a graduate of the Caterpillar Apprenticeship Program, where he worked as a Processor in the office for Caterpillar Inc. for 30 years retiring in 1985. He was a member of Bethel Lutheran Church in Bartonville, a Past President of the East Peoria Jaycee’s, a member of Timber Lake Club, the Elks in Peoria and a former member of Pine Lakes. Larry was an avid golfer and enjoyed fishing, bowling, playing kitten ball with the Jaycee’s and was proud of making a hole in one. He was a founding member and player of the Tippecanoe Invitational Tournament that is held yearly in Indiana. Larry will be remembered for the love he had for his family and how he could tell a joke like nobody else.
A visitation will be Sunday, April 1, 2012 from 4 to 6 pm at the Davison-Fulton Woodland Chapel in Peoria. A service will be on Monday, April 2, 2012 at 11:00 am at the funeral home with burial following the service at Swan Lake Memory Gardens.
