Karen Shaw, 78, of Peoria, passed away Monday, March 16, 2015 at Unity Point Proctor Hospital. She was born September 25, 1936 in Morton, IL to Albert and Ruth (Robison) Shafer. She married Donald “Bud” Shaw on May 26, 1962 in Peoria. He preceded her in death in 1998. Also preceding in death were her parents and a brother, Dean Beeman. Surviving are her sons, Randall Shaw and Jeffrey (Amii) Shaw, both of Peoria; five grandchildren, Brent Neff, Elizabeth Reynolds, Reno Williams, Briannia Williams, and Echo Williams; two brothers, Ronald Shafer of Tacoma, WA and Kevin Hippen; and two sisters, Linda (Jim) Bradshaw of Pekin and Cheryl Hippen of Peoria. Karen retired as a school bus driver from Peoria School District 150 after 23 years of service. She had also worked as a bookkeeper at the Sherwin-Williams store in Peoria and was also an telephone operator for Illinois Bell in the early 1960’s. She loved to cook and is remembered for her Rouladen as well as baking Christmas cookies and candies. She enjoyed reading novels and working crossword puzzles. A memorial service will be held at 6:00 pm Thursday, March 19, 2015 at Davison-Fulton Woodland Chapel in Peoria. The Rev. Jack Thompson will officiate. Cremation has been accorded.
