She was born May 4, 1963 in Galesburg to Roy and Shirley (Fortman) Carlson. She married Kevin Greer June 5, 1999 in Chillicothe. He survives. Also surviving is her father of Altona and his friend, Norma Brown, her mother-in-law, Margaret Greer of Mackinaw, three sisters: Susan (Henry) Cote of Sabastian, FL, Sally (Eric) Ohlson of Edelstein, Kathy (Rob) Schulz of Dunlap, and nine nieces and nephews: Erin, Ryan, Evan, Daniel, Michelle, Steven, Andrew, David, and Michael.
She was preceded in death by her mother, Shirley, father-in-law, Curtis Greer, and one niece, Ellen Schulz.
She was a graduate of ROVA High School, Carl Sandburg College, Illinois State University, and Olivet University.
Karen has been a teacher for almost thirty years at Wyanet, Tiskilwa, and currently at Princeton High School in the Art and Science Departments.
Visitation will be Friday July 24, 2015 from 5 to 7 p.m. at the Davison-Fulton Woolsey-Wilton Funeral Home in Peoria. Funeral services will be Saturday July 25, 2015 at 11 a.m. at the Victoria United Methodist Church in Victoria, IL. Additional visitation will be one hour prior to the services at the church.
Burial will be in the Galva City Cemetery.
