She was born May 14, 1944, in Baltimore, Maryland to Howard and Edna (Behn) Conway. She married Martin Cadmus in Peoria on March 20, 1965, he survives.
Karen is also survived by her children, Kathleen (Kevin) Horath and David (Sherri) Cadmus; grandchildren, Jessica, Annali and Hailey Cadmus, John “Nick” (Caitlyn) Massey.
She was preceded in death by her parents and two brothers, Clifford and Jimmy Conway.
Later in life, Karen returned to school and proudly completed her Bachelor’s Degree in Nursing. She found fulfillment in her career as a nurse and enjoyed the connections she made with her patients, she retired in 2005.
Karen was an active member of the First Christian Church, where she participated in both the bell choir and the vocal choir. She also played the piano, sharing her musical talents with the congregation and friends.
A woman of many talents, Karen also enjoyed sewing and making her own clothes growing up.
Karen’s friendships meant the world to her, and she cherished every moment spent with her dear friend, Sandy Blackwell, with their standing breakfast.
Her greatest joy in life was her family. She loved making cookies with her grandchildren.
A celebration of life will be held May 24, 2025 at 2 p.m. at First Christian Church, Peoria.
