Julia was born on March 31, 1957 in Peoria, the daughter of Scott and Suzanne Love Smith. She married Celestino Colorado on August 9, 1980 in Peoria.
She is survived by her husband of 33 years years; her daughter, Suzanne Elizabeth Colorado of Peoria; her mother, Suzanne of Peoria; two sisters, Elizabeth (Gary) Weber of Peoria, and Alice (Keith) St. Clair of Grand Rapids, MI; three nieces and two nephews.
Julia was preceded in death by her father.
She was an assistant professor of Spanish at Eureka College. She formerly taught at East Peoria Community High School.
Julia loved to write and read and had an international following for her articles online.
Cremation rites will be accorded.
Memorial Service will be at 6:00 p.m. on Friday October 11, 2013 at Davison-Fulton Woolsey-Wilton Funeral Home. Rev. Dr. Randall Saxon and Chaplain Bruce Fowlkes will officiate. Visitation will be two hours prior to services.
