Judy Courson, 72 of Peoria Heights, passed away Monday, July 27, 2015 at Unity Point Methodist Hospital in Peoria. She was born November 15, 1942 in LaSalle, IL to Nello “Bandy” and Catherine (Garzanelli) Farneti. She married Paul L. Courson on January 21, 1984 in Peoria. He preceded her in death on April 13, 2000. Her daughter, Mindy Schaefer also preceded her in death. Surviving are her children; Kari (Rick) Medearis of Forrest, IL, Janeen (Jim) Carter of Myrtle Beach, SC, JR (Lorraine) Ginz of East Peoria, Alisa (Doug) DeVore of Washington and Kelly Courson of Peoria Heights; 13 grandchildren, Shannon, Ashley, Anna, Paige, Alex, Amanda, Michael, Cameron, Anthony, Ally, Peyton, Kytela, and Quinn; 9 great grandchildren, Willie, Vinnie, Isabelle, Henry, Penelope, JoElle, Charlee, Carson and Owen; and her 2 sisters, Rita DeAngelo of Peru, IL and Sue (Chuck) Nelson of Morris, IL. Judy was a waitress in the Peoria area for over 50 years and worked for such restaurants as Jumer’s, Jim’s Steakhouse, Maple Shade and Doc’s Mt. Hawley Inn. She retired in 2005 while working for Eurest Services. She was a member of the Fraternal Order of the Eagles Aerie #265 in Peoria and the Illinois Democratic Women. She was a fan of all of the Chicago sports teams and loved NASCAR and most of all, #24 Jeff Gordon. Judy was devoted to her family and loved attending all special events. Visitation will be from 4:00-7:00pm Monday, August 3, 2015 at the Davison-Fulton Woodland Chapel. Funeral services will be at 10:00 am Tuesday, August 4th, also at Woodland Chapel in Peoria. Burial will follow at Parkview Cemetery. Memorials may be made to the St. Jude Chicago to Peoria Run in support of Judy’s granddaughters Ashley and Ally, members of Team Alivia.
