Judith Ann Sowers

Judith "Judi" Ann Sowers, 88, of Peoria, passed away on Tuesday September 12, 2023 at OSF Saint Francis Medical Center in Peoria. She was born on November 3, 1934 in Hampton, Iowa, a daughter of Rev. Harold L. Michael and Ruth (Velander) Michael. Judi married Paul M. Sowers on June 8, 1956 in Sycamore. He survives.

She is also survived by her two children, Mike (Julie) Sowers of East Peoria and Jane Sowers of Peoria; five grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; one brother, Dr. Roger (Janet) Michael of Portland, Maine; one sister, Nancy Bishop of Rochester Hills, Michigan; and several nieces and nephews.

Judi was preceded in death by her parents; and one brother, Keith Michael.

Judi was a teacher for 30 years, retiring in 1994. She last worked at Northmoor Elementary School and previously for Rolling Acres Grade School.

She was a member of First Federated Church in Peoria and the P.E.O. International – Chapter FQ.

Judi was a wonderful wife, mother, grandma, and great-grandma. Her creativity and sweet nature made every occasion a treasure to remember. Her students were blessed with a caring and nurturing leader of education and life’s ways. She was the embodiment of everything good in this world.

Judi's funeral service will be at 11:00 am Saturday, September 16, 2023 at the Davison-Fulton-Woolsey-Wilton Funeral Home in Peoria. Her visitation will be from 9:00 am to 11:00 am also on Saturday at the funeral home. Burial will take place in Oakland Cemetery in Princeton.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to a charity of donor's choice.
