Joseph was born September 9, 1945 in Chicago, IL to Joseph and Dorthea (Henricksen) Hahn. He married Katherine Polakow on April 16, 1983 in Chicago. She preceded him in death on March 4, 2017 in Edwards, IL. Also preceding him in death were his parents.
Surviving are three sisters: Dorthea (Kenn) Kubica of Hot Springs Village, AR, Mary (Larry) Bielski of Park Ridge, IL, and Barbara Brown of Bethlehem, GA, one sister-in-law: Darlene Westerberg of Mesa, AZ; five nephews: Paul Kubica, Matthew (Rachel) Bielski, William (Natalie) Bielski, Jeffrey Brown, and Brian (Kelly) Westerberg; five nieces: Katherine Kubica, Kristine Kubica, Lynn (Jessie) Bielski-Russell, Jennifer Brown, and Julia Westerberg; many great-nieces and nephews, and his beloved dog Walker.
Joseph served in the U.S. Army and then worked as a Quality Assurance Specialist with the U.S. Defense Department until retiring in 2000. He was a member of the Knights of Columbus, the V.F.W. in Woodridge, IL, the LaSalle-Brittany Club, the Chillicothe Sportsman's Club and was an avid Cubs fan. Joseph enjoyed going to events at the German-American Society and Pheasant hunting with his dogs, Kappy and Digger, who preceded him in death.
A Celebration of Life Service will be at 11:00 am on Saturday, May 14, 2022 with visitation one hour prior to the service at Woolsey-Wilton Funeral Home in Peoria. Cremation will be accorded. Burial will be at Parkview Cemetery in Peoria.
