He was born in Peoria on December 30, 1954 to Robert and Joanne (Stewart) Adkins. He married Diane Murray in Washington on November 26, 1977 and she survives. Also surviving are their children, Jason (Kim) Adkins, Shawn (Lisa) Adkins and Keith (Rachel) Adkins; grandchildren, Landon, Skylar, Lucas, Isabella and Pierce; brothers, Stewart (Jo) Adkins and Kevin (Cindy) Adkins.
He was preceded in death by his parents.
Jon retired from Keystone Steel and Wire with 46 years of dedicated service in January 2020. He was a member of the Independent Steel Workers Alliance and The Pentecostals of Peoria. He enjoyed anything related to planes, trains and automobiles including building model airplanes. He also enjoyed fishing, hunting and teaching his sons about guns in their youth.
Funeral services will be held at Davison-Fulton Woodland Chapel at 11:00AM on Monday, July 19, 2021 with Rev. Jeffrey Lashley officiating. Visitation will be held an hour prior to the service. Burial will follow at Parkview Cemetery. Memorials may be made to The Pentecostals of Peoria.
