Dr. Woerner was my son's pediatrician. I was a nurse at St. Francis.  All the nurses at St. Francis wanted him for their pediatrician.  He was the best!  He was so kind and gentle.

Debbie, please accept my sincerest sympathy.  John was a great pediatrician and a great friend.  He will be deeply missed.  Even though he was a Cardinal fan, I enjoyed going to games and spending time and sharing a lot of laughs with him.  May he rest in Heavenly peace.  God bless you.

Dr. Woerner was the most kind and gentle man/doctor ever. He was the pediatrician for my 3 children who are now grown. They still recall him with fondness. My oldest daughter has children of her own now and just the other day said her pediatrician reminds her of Dr. Woerner. He was the gold standard of pediatricians! May Jesus comfort you and your family.

Dr. Woerner was our "gentle giant".  He cared for our four children from the mid-70's to nearly the mid-90's.  He was honest, devoted, personal and 100% sincere.  When Dr. Woerner retired, I sent him a thank-you note, and he wrote a note back!!  We could not have asked for any better doctor to take care of our kids (and of us parents when needed).

I am so sorry for your loss.  Dr Woerner taught me Pediatrics; he demonstrated kindness & empathy; he embodied the ideal of selfless dedication to others, especially the less fortunate.  He was quietly inspirational; he was built from the ground up with a deep character and a steady moral compass, seasoned with wisdom and compassion. Dr. Woerner’s family, please accept our sincere condolences at your loss.  Dr. John saved both our daughter’s lives when they were little.  They both were patients of his until they were 17 and he suggested we find a doctor that would make them more comfortable at that age.  He was a very caring, compassionate man.  Thank you for sharing him with his patients.  And ... I know you can hear me, Dr. John, thank you for your service to our country and to her people. Rest In Peace.

Dr. Woerner was our sons’ pediatrician.   They are 48 and 51 now but through the years I have told many a mother how much I appreciated him.  I took one son to him with vague symptoms saying “there’s something wrong...he’s not himself.”  He couldn’t find anything right away either but he said “I learned a long time ago that a mother knows her child...so we’re going to do some testing, etc.“.   and sure enough he had a serious infection but no fever.  
I’m sure a lot of mothers had great appreciation for his respect of mothers.

Dr. Woerner will be missed greatly not only in Peoria, but to all who were fortunate enough to work with him and be taught by him in residency.  He was a gentle giant with all the “kiddos” and I learned so much from him during my residency.  May his memory be eternal.  My deepest condolences to his family.  

I am so sorry to hear that Dr. Woerner has passed away.  He was the most kind and compassionate Pediatrician, wonderful with the kids and a calm voice during stormy times with my kids.  He was always respectful and patient with the kids and parents.  What a great loss.  I always trusted him and he got us through some very rough illnesses. I was so saddened by the news of the passing of Dr. John Woerner on Tuesday, September 22. He was a fantastic pediatrician and teacher. He is one of the amazing people who taught me what it meant to be a pediatrician. I was also so fortunate to be able to call John my colleague and friend, getting to precept with him in clinic. He was who I hope was there when I saw a kid with a weird rash, so I could “phone a friend” to see what was going on. I even talked him into dressing up for Halloween one year- him being Anger from Inside Out was a truly ironic thing of beauty, complete with the construction paper fire hair made by Debbie. 😂 I’ll miss you terribly, John, but I thankful that you’re no longer suffering. I’ll be praying for Debbie and your family... 🙏🏻💔



It was such an opportunity and an honor to work with and learn from Dr Woerner in my residency. I can honestly say he was one of the best pediatricians I've had the privilege to work with, and he served so many people in so many different ways throughout his life. He radiated kindness and had such passion for his work. He is an aspiration to all of us. This is truly a loss for our community; he will be greatly missed. I am so very sorry for your loss.  Dr. Woerner was my daughter's pediatrician.  She was born in July  1973.  He found that she had a dislocated hip when she was two days old. He told me he had recently finished medical school.  Thanks to him she got  a brace on and is has perfectly formed hips with no effects.  

I am both heartbroken and filled with gratitude for knowing Dr. Woerner. His gentle giant presence in my education will be an everlasting impact on my practice. He wrote notes to those of us graduating in 2016 going into outpatient peds that our career “allows you to have an impact on many lives - an awesome responsibility and opportunity all at once”.  His legacy will live through each of us that he mentored through our words, touch and daily interactions of those we care for and love. Strength to your family Dr. Woerner as you will be dearly missed. 

Dr. Woerner was an excellent pediatrician and teacher. He taught me so much and I feel blessed and honored to have worked with him. I remember many conversations talking baseball as he would give me a hard time about being a Cubs fan. I miss him dearly and will continue to apply everything he taught me into my everyday practice. His family and loved ones are in my thoughts and prayers. 

I am deeply saddened by this news and my thoughts and prayers go out to the family. There are no words that make this easier. 

I was a resident in Peoria a few years ago and have such fond memories of working with Dr. Woerner in the resident clinic. It was always a good day when you saw him walk in to the office! He was full of wit and knowledge and was an excellent teacher. He will be greatly missed. 

Dr. Woerner was our pediatrician when I was growing up. As an adult remembering early childhood - some early memories can be spotty - but I remember that kind, gentle  man plain as day. So sorry to hear of his passing. I work in health care and also have kids of my own and have deep appreciation For the hard to find, one of a kind doctors like Dr. Woerner. We are so grateful to have a wonderful pediatrician of our own! Praying for his family’s peace and comfort. 

Dr. John Conrad Woener was the pediatrician for all five of my children. He had a wonderful bedside manner with children, and he was respectful of the parents. He was also  the Dr. that attended me in the hospital when I had a severe illness. He will always remain in our hearts as a kind and gentle man who loved to laugh and have fun with the kids.
